What do you want to bet that the Director's Office made a phone call today to tell the accounting group to back out a few "overhead" charges.

I sure wouldn't want Mike to get into any trouble over this. After all, running LANL into the ground is hard work. He deserves to enjoy a little Christmas cheer with his buddies from the Director's Office. In one of Santa Fe's most expensive hotels. Away from Los Alamos.

Nice try, Gus.

But consider that Mikey and the rest of the LANS crew can slide a $41 million KSL slush fund through the system with not even a whisper of objection from the GAO. What makes you think that LANS will be called to task for having an expensive, Christmas party at the tax payer's expense?

Bechtel calls the shots here.

You are right, undoubtedly. However, fatalism has a Zen character to it as well. This calls for another Haiku:

Bechtel calls the shots.
Expensive Christmas Party?
Who cares? Not the GAO.
